Bennington Car Accident Leaves Two Injured

A Bennington car accident involving three vehicles sends two women to the hospital after a female driver attempts to avoid a pickup truck. The incident took place at approximately 1:45 PM on Monday afternoon, March 28, 2011, along Route 7.

According to Bennington Police Lieutenant, Lloyd Dean, the accident occurred when the driver of a 2005 Mazda 6 made an attempt to avoid hitting a 2000 Dodge Dakota and swerved into the southbound lanes on Route 7. She then struck a 2002 Toyota Corolla head-on.

Rescue crews transported the driver of the Corolla, Teresa Heepe, 52, of Croydon, N.H., to Albany Medical Center in New York with what has been described as significant internal injuries. Her condition was not immediately made available.

The driver of the Mazda has been identified as Alyssa J. Parks, 21, of Pownal. She was transported by Bennington Rescue to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

It appears that Ms. Parks also struck the back of the pickup before swerving into the path of Ms. Heepe's vehicle. The unidentified driver of the pickup was not injured in the three-vehicle wreck.

The Bennington car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
