Defective Strollers Can Lead to Deadly Consequences

In late October 2010, Graco Children’s Products Inc. made an announcement that left many parents feeling uneasy. The company recalled nearly 2 million defective strollers, which was prompted by the strangulations of four infants.

When there is such a massive recall of a children’s product, it often causes a sense of fear among the public, and rightly so.

Children Should Be Safe

As consumers, we trust that the products we use for our children are safe, and free from dangers. We place our precious babies in cribs with the belief that they will be safe and secure. When we head for a walk around the neighborhood, we buckle our children into their strollers without once ever stopping to think that we could be placing them in harm’s way.

Manufacturers Have a Responsibility to Safety

Manufacturers have the responsibility to produce safe products. There are certain standards for safety and quality that must be met. However, there are often design flaws, manufacturing errors and other issues that lead to unsafe children’s products.

Children’s Products Sometimes Cause Injuries

If you or your child has been hurt by an unsafe product in New Hampshire or Vermont, you may be able to hold the manufacturer, seller or other party liable. According to the CPSC, these strollers pose a risk of entrapment and strangulation. The strollers and travel systems that have been recalled were manufactured prior to July 2007. They were sold at AAFES, Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Fred Meyer, Meijers, Navy Exchange, Sears, Target, Walmart and other retail stores between November 2000 and December 2007.
