Robin C. Curtiss

New Hampshire Personal Injury Lawyer, Robin C Curtiss

Robin C. Curtiss, Esq. is a partner with the law firm of Van Dorn & Curtiss, P.L.L.C. who concentrates his practice on plaintiffs’ personal injury claims. He has tried cases to verdict in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York and Massachusetts and has litigated in Connecticut and Tennessee as well.  In 1997 he achieved the then highest sexual harassment settlement paid by the federal government in a Vermont case. His trial results have been featured in the New England Jury Verdict Review, including a personal injury case where a New York state jury awarded his client, whose special damages only totaled $673.00, two hundred and forty thousand dollars (believed to be a record in upstate New York).

Mr. Curtiss has lectured frequently to other lawyers in the areas of trial practice, especially jury selection, at seminars sponsored by the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers’ Association and the National Business Institute. He has, on several occasions, settled cases on favorable terms at the conclusion of the jury selection process.  Prior to the adoption of attorney conducted voir dire in New Hampshire, he testified in front of the state legislature in support of this measure.

He is a cum laude graduate of Wesleyan University who also pursued graduate studies at Trinity College. Before obtaining his J.D. from Vermont Law School, he taught English at the Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, New York. He also graduated from ATLA’s Ultimate Advocacy Program and from Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers’ College in Dubois, Wyoming. After completing his legal education, Mr. Curtiss worked as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney and commercial litigator before undertaking his present specialty.

He is a past president of the Grafton County Bar Association and has belonged to chapters of the American Inns of Court in both Vermont and New Hampshire. He is also a former Governor of the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers’ Association and in 2005 received, along with his partner Edward M. Van Dorn, Jr., Esq., the Special Recognition Award for Dedication to the Pursuit of Justice from that organization.
