Hillsborough County’s Fatal Accidents Decline | NH Accident Attorney

Hillsborough County is the only county in New Hampshire that has seen its number of fatal car accidents decline. However, the positive trend is puzzling as highway safety enforcement in New Hampshire occurs on the state level or by towns and cities- not counties.
Statewide the State Police have been putting extra time and money into an effort to curb drunk driving. Cities across New Hampshire have been cracking down on drunk driving as well. DWI blockades and safety projects may have contributed to the counties success.
Hillsborough County receives a little less federal money through the state's Highway Safety Agency than Rockingham County. Still, Hillsborough has seen a steady decline in traffic fatalities over the past four years while Rockingham's numbers have remained virtually unchanged.
The relatively low number of deaths due to traffic accidents may have something to do with the state's overall numbers. Each year fewer that 140 people die during car crashes statewide. Therefore one major event can make a big change in a county's statistics.
Though no one can say for sure why the county has seen a decrease everyone hopes that the trend continues and catches on throughout New Hampshire.
