Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month | New Hampshire Accident Attorney

Posted on May 30, 2009

The American Motorcycle Association (AMA) is sponsoring a month long campaign to stress the importance of motorcycle safety.  The AMA has focused on New Hampshire, along with other states, to help keep motorcyclists and drivers safe.

Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month attempts to reach all drivers and riders.  This year the AMA has even distributed videos to help keep motorcyclists safe.  Part of their campaign focuses not on riders but on distracted drivers.  A video titled "The Distracted Driver" aims to bring attention to the serious safety risk distracted drivers present to motorcyclist and every motorist who shares the road with them.

Rallies are another way that the AMA is working to spread the word about motorcycle safety.  The education campaign strives to reverse the upward trend of motorcycle accidents that began in 2002.

To work toward this goal the AMA has five tips for drivers and five for riders that should help keep everyone safe:

Rules for riders:

  • Get trained and licensed
  • Wear protective gear
  • Ride unimpaired
  • Ride within your limits
  • Be a lifelong learner

Rules for drivers:

  • Look out for motorcyclists
  • Don't be distracted
  • Give two-wheelers some room
  • Use your turn signals
  • Keep it in the car

If you or someone you love have been injured in a motorcycle accident please contact your New Hampshire injury attorney at Van Dorn & Curtiss today.
