Pit Bull Attack Caught on Tape

Usually the only evidence of a dog attack is the wounds it inflicts and the accounts of the victim and witnesses. In Omaha, Nebraska a pit bull attacked and seriously injured a 48-year-old woman. This attack was only one of three in a two day period.
The other two attacks involved very young children. In one case a Siberian husky bit a two month old infant, fracturing the babies' ribs. The other incident occurred when a rat terrier bit a child in the face as the dog was being punished for digging in the trash.
What makes the pit bull attack different from the others is that the attack was recorded during a call to 911. Lorrie Ellis was attacked when she tried to intervene as the dog growled at an 8 month-old child.
The owner of the dog was Jeffery Kirlin, Ellis' son.
An unnamed caller told the 911 operator that the dog as hanging onto the victim and that "there is blood coming from everywhere. I can't get this dog off of her."
Omaha firefighter Stan Shearer was one of four emergency workers who were needed to secure the dog.
"When we got to the call, the dog was actually in the hallway. Its body was out in the hallway, its head is pinned in the door by the victim in the bathroom," Shearer said.
Ellis underwent surgery for her wounds and at the time of this report she was in fair condition
