A: It is likely that your own insurance policy will provide benefits.  Many people don't realize that many car insurance policies have uninsured motorist coverage, also known as UM coverage.  This coverage is required in both New Hampshire and Vermont.  Your insurance company should cover your expenses, including all medical expenses and lost wages.  However, they are still an insurance company and they may attempt to deny you coverage. If that happens, you may file a claim against your own insurance company. Typically, a claim against your insurance company takes the form of a "bad faith" claim. This claim asserts they acted unreasonably in their claims offer, or their denial of your claim for benefits.
