A: A survival action is a type of wrongful death claim.  This type of claim may be brought when the decedent does not die at the time of the injury causing event, but passes sometime afterwards.  With this type of claim, the decedent's estate may bring action on the decedent's behalf to recover damages including pain and suffering, medical expenses, and lost wages.
