A Wilton truck accident involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claims the life of one man. The incident took place at approximately 10:30 on Thursday evening, April 21, 2011, on the Northway, just south of Exit 16.
According to police, the driver of a pickup truck was traveling northbound on the Northway when he crashed into a tanker at a high speed. The force of the impact sent the pickup truck off the road and ejected the male driver.
The pickup truck driver has been identified as Paul Woodbury, 31, of Bomoseen. Rescue crews transported Mr. Woodbury to Saratoga Hospital where he lost his life due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the tractor-trailer has been identified as Steve Theriault, 36, of Marieville, Quebec. Fortunately, he was not injured in the fatal two-vehicle accident.
The Wilton truck accident is still under investigation by local authorities. The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Anyone with information about the accident has been asked to contact state police in Wilton at 583-7010.
