Drunk Driver Causes Serious Accident

In the early morning hours the driver of a 2000 BMW sedan went the wrong way on an exit ramp and slammed into a Pontiac Grand Prix. The passenger of the BMW sustained life-threatening injuries while the driver and occupants of the other car escaped with only minor injuries.

The occupants of the Grand Prix were treated and released from Lawrence General Hospital while the driver, Ruben Sanchez of Cambridge, was taken to Parkland Medical Center. He will be held pending his arraignment.

The troopers who responded to the call have decided to press felony-level DWI charges because of the severity of the accident and the extent of injuries to his passenger. The accident occurred at the sharpest point of the curve on the exit ramp from Route 28 to Interstate 93.
