Drunk Driver Hits Cyclist
Driving drunk is never OK. Unfortunately it often takes a serious accident to bring the subject to light. A recent accident involving a drunk driver, a cyclist and damage to property is just such an incident.
A California man was driving a New Hampshire registered Ford Explorer when he struck a man riding a bicycle. Police report that the rider suffered minor injuries but the driver did not stop and instead drove on.
After driving away from the accident the driver, Myles E. Stout, drifted off the road and onto the grass at The Admiral's Inn, causing some property damage. As Stout continued driving across the inn's grass he ran into a parked car that was on the property.
This accident, however, did not stop Stout. He continued on Route 1 until police were able to stop him and make the arrest.
Stout has been charged with criminal operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and leaving the scene of an accident involving an unattended vehicle, police said.
