Chesterfield Car Accident Claims the Life of a Local Woman

A Chesterfield car accident involving three vehicles claims the life of an elderly woman after the vehicles collide along Route 9. The incident took place at approximately 4:45 PM on Tuesday afternoon, November 30, 2010, near Stoddard Hill.

According to the Chesterfield Police Department, witnesses report that the driver of a 1997 Ford Taurus traveling eastbound near Poocham Road swerved into the westbound lanes and slammed into a 2005 Saab driven by Stephen Brown of Townsend, VT.

The Taurus continued traveling east in the westbound lane when it struck a 1998 Volvo operated by Michael Schlegemilch, 24, of Brattleboro, VT.

The driver of the Ford Taurus has been identified as Eleanor Ahlin, 92, of West Chesterfield. Rescue crews pronounced the elderly woman dead at the scene of the accident. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.

The fatal three-vehicle Chesterfield car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have yet to determine what caused Ms. Ahlin’s vehicle to travel into oncoming traffic.
