Conway Pedestrian Accident Claims Life of Jogger
A Conway pedestrian accident involving an avid jogger claims the life of a woman after she is struck by a car while returning to her vehicle. The incident took place at approximately 7:00 PM on Saturday evening, October 2, 2010, near the Intervale Overlook.
According to Conway police Lt. Chris Perley, the female jogger just finished up her run and was returning to her car when she was struck by a Toyota pickup truck. The jogger, who has been identified as Jacquelyn Sutton, 25, was coming from Hurricane Mountain Road and was crossing Route 16 when she was hit.
Rescue crews transported Sutton to Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver has been identified as Henry Harmon, 50, of Thorn Mountain Road, Jackson. Police have charged Harmon with driving under the influence, but do not suspect that alcohol was a factor.
“We are looking into the levels of medications or controlled drugs that may have affected his ability to drive,” said Perley.
Harmon is also suspected of being involved in a car accident earlier that day. However, he has passed a field sobriety test following the first accident.
Both New Hampshire accidents are still under investigation.
This is a terrible incident and our thoughts and condolences go out to Sutton’s family and friends during this difficult time.
