North Andover Car Accident Claims the Life of 1, Sends 2 Others to Hospital
A North Andover car accident involving three vehicles claims the life of a man and sends two others to the hospital. The incident took place at approximately 5:30 on Monday morning, March 21, 2011, along Route 114 near Merrimack College.
According to North Andover Police Chief Richard Stanley, the incident involved a truck and two other vehicles along Route 114 near Route 125. A male driver of an Acura appeared to have been driving on the wrong side of the road when he slammed head-on into a Rexel truck. Both vehicles burst into flames right before a third car was hit.
The unidentified driver of the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Rescue crews transported two other victims to Lawrence General Hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Their conditions were not immediately made known.
"I was horrified," said Jan Valcourt, a neighbor. "I mean there's so many accidents on this road. It's terrible. People just drive too fast and they don't pay attention."
"We're very lucky it was just one person that passed away," said Police Chief Richard Stanley.
The fatal North Andover car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It was unclear as to what caused the accident.
This is a terrible tragedy and we would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to the victims' family and friends during this difficult time.
