A Shrewsbury car accident involving two vehicles claims the life of a woman after she loses control of her vehicle and swerves into oncoming traffic and slams into a truck. The incident took place at approximately 3:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon, December 22, 2010, along Vermont 103.
According to reports, Tina Wood, 54, of Rutland, was driving along Vermont 103 near Spring Lake Ranch Road when she lost control of her 2001 Buick and swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic. Ms. Wood’s vehicle then slammed into a truck.
Rescue crews transported Ms. Wood to Rutland Regional Medical Center. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on arrival from injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the truck has been identified as Steven Wescott, 48, of Proctorsville. He was not injured in the wreck.
The fatal two-vehicle Shrewsbury car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Snowy conditions are believed to have contributed to the wreck.
This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts and condolences go out to Ms. Wood’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Earlier in the day a three-vehicle wreck along Interstate 89 sent one motorist to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington where the victim was treated for a possible neck injury.
