Fatal Jackson Car Accident Reported on Route 16
A Jackson car accident involving two vehicles claims the life of a Berlin woman and sends two others to the hospital after the vehicles collide head-on. The incident took place at approximately 11:00 AM on Saturday morning, March 5, 2011, along Route 16.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the driver of a 2001 Toyota Echo hit an icy patch of road along Route 16 and slid into the northbound lane hitting a 2006 Jeep Commander head-on. The driver of the Jeep, John Drinkall, 65, of Kearsarge, attempted to steer his vehicle to the right and stop, but was unable to avoid the collision with the Toyota.
Rescue crews transported Mr. Drinkall to Memorial Hospital in Conway where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Echo has been identified as Doreen Bilodeau, 54, of Berlin. Rescue crews pronounced Ms. Bilodeau dead at the scene of the two-vehicle accident. Her unidentified grandson, who was traveling with her, was also taken to Memorial Hospital. His injuries have been described as non-life threatening as well.
The fatal Jackson car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
