Shaftsbury Car Accident Leaves 2 Hospitalized
A Shaftsbury car accident involving two vehicles sends the drivers to a local hospital after the vehicles collide on Vermont Route 7A. The incident took place on Friday, February 25, 2011, near Airport Road.
According to reports, the driver of a silver 2005 Honda Civic traveling southbound on Route 7A lost control and spun into the northbound lane and struck a silver 2000 Dodge Durango. The driver of the Honda Civic, Shoazhong Kirchoff of Dorset, was taken to Southwest Vermont Medical Center and treated for a possible concussion.
The driver of the Dodge Durango has been identified as Corey Sweet of North Bennington. Rescue crews also transported Mr. Sweet to Southwest Vermont Medical Center where he was treated for neck and chest pains. His condition was not immediately made known.
Investigators indicate that snow covered roads and slippery conditions may have played a major role in the two-vehicle wreck. No citations were issues.
The Shaftsbury car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. No violations appeared to have been committed.
Officials from both the State Police Traffic Safety Unit and Vermont State Troopers from the Shaftsbury barracks responded to the accident scene.
