Vermont Car Accident Leads Police to a Stash of Drugs
A Vermont car accident involving what appear to be two vehicles ends with a foot chase by police and the discovery of a stash of illegal drugs and cash. The incident took place on Thursday, February 17, 2011, along U.S. 7 in Rutland.
According to Vermont State Police, a hit-and-run crash occurred on U.S. 7 when a motorist involved in a crash fled the scene of an accident. There were no details immediately available as to what caused the accident, who may have been at fault or if anyone was injured in the wreck.
The fleeing driver, Demonte Miller, 22, of Troy, New York, was apprehended a short time later in Rutland. He was arrested after a short foot chase by police.
Police discovered cocaine, marijuana and approximately $3,100 in cash after searching Mr. Miller’s vehicle. He is being accused of leaving an accident scene and the possession of drugs.
The car accident is still under investigation by local authorities as they attempt to determine who or what caused the vehicles to collide in the first place.
This is an unfortunate incident and we hope that no one was seriously injured as a result of the hit-and-run crash.
