Latest Michelin Tire Recall May Affect Vermont Drivers
Michelin has issued a recall for 1.2 million of their LTX/MS tires in the United States. These tires, sized 225/75/16 and manufactured for light trucks, heavy duty vans, and smaller SUVs are at risk for tread failure which can, even at low speeds, lead to serious motor vehicle accidents.
Michelin will notify owners of the defect in early January via letter with instructions on replacing the tires. While this issue has been known since the third quarter of 2013, Michelin has chosen to not address it until the beginning of the New Year.
Issuing a letter months after a product defect becomes known does not waive a company’s responsibility if their product causes harm. Victims of defective products have a right to hold negligent companies accountable, even after a recall is issued.
