Distracted Driving Awareness Month
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The purpose of this month is to educate drivers on the dangers posed by distraction and to encourage everyone on the road to adopt safer habits.
The New Hampshire automobile accident attorneys at Van Dorn & Curtiss applaud the efforts of the National Safety Council and other involved organizations in raising awareness of driver distraction and taking steps to end this completely avoidable cause of serious injury.
What is Distraction?
Distraction includes anything that can take your attention off of the road such as:
- Using a cellphone
- Eating or drinking
- Using a map or GPS
- Changing a radio station or CD
- Looking at passengers
- Personal grooming
It is important that you take steps to avoid distraction while driving, but you cannot control the actions of others. When you are injured by a driver who is distracted – no matter if it is by a cellphone or a cereal bowl – you have every right to hold them accountable and seek compensation well beyond the offerings of insurance companies.
If you have been injured in an accident with a distracted driver in New Hampshire or Vermont, please contact the Law Offices of Van Dorn & Curtiss today to schedule a free consultation with one of our experienced personal injury attorneys.
