Dangerous Bridges in New Hampshire
According to a new report by TRIP, New Hampshire has the 12th highest number of dangerous rural bridges in the United States. TRIP, a nonprofit transportation research group, identified 1,643 rural bridges in New Hampshire. Of those, it rates 241 as “structurally deficient” and 269 as “functionally obsolete.” Combined, those represent 31 percent of New Hampshire’s rural bridges.
While there are fewer auto accidents in rural areas than on more densely populated roads, a disproportionate number of rural accidents are fatal. Bridges that are structurally unsound pose a significant risk to drivers on rural roads and when these structures cause injury or make an accident worse, victims need an experienced attorney to ensure they are treated fairly and provided full compensation.
