Honda Recalls Fit Subcompact
Honda has issued a recall for all 2013 model Fit subcompacts with manual transmissions. The recall stems from a problem with the right side axle-shaft which can crack and separate from the wheels. The company stated that an error in the manufacturing process was the cause of this particular vehicle defect.
Defective vehicles have become common in recent years – largely due to faulty manufacturing practices. Some of these defects, such as the Honda Fit axle, are discovered before injury occurs. Others, such as those coming from GM, follow serious injury and death. Tragically, auto manufacturers have shown they are willing to sell cars even when the latter is possible, just to ensure continued profits.
