45 Million Recalled Vehicles Remain Unfixed
A new study conducted by JD Power has found that over 45 million vehicles recalled between 2013 and 2015 have not yet been fixed – that’s nearly 40% of all vehicles recalled during that two year period. Recall notices are typically sent to the address on file at the time of vehicle purchase. This means that people who have moved or those who have purchased a vehicle used may never receive notice of a vehicle defect. However, notices may also be received and subsequently ignored by owners who are unaware of their significance.
To learn if your vehicle has been recalled, you can look it up by VIN number at the safecar.gov website. If your vehicle is on a recall list, it is important – perhaps vital even – that you take it to a dealership as soon as possible for repairs. Remember, repairs for recalled vehicles are free when done at a dealership, and may even save your life.
There were nearly 110 million vehicles recalled between 2013 and 2015. If yours was among them and you have been injured by its defect, you are entitled – despite the recall – to seek compensation. If your injury occurred in New Hampshire or Vermont, the product liability attorneys at Van Dorn, Curtiss & Rousseau are here to fight for your rights and help you receive the full compensation you deserve.
